The Dragon*Con Independent Short Film Festival presented awards for first place (chosen from 3 finalists) in each of 12 categories: Animated Comedy, Animated Horror, Animated Fantasy, Comedy, Drama, Documentary, Fantasy, Horror, Horror Comedy, Parody, Science Fiction, Thriller.

Best Animated Short was chosen from the 1st place winners in the three animated categories.  Best Short Film was chosen from the 1st place winners in the nine live-action categories.  An Honorable Mention was given to the best film that, due to intense competition, did not place first in its category.

Additionally, a Peer Choice award was presented.  It was determined by the votes of the filmmakers.  Finally, filmmakers were asked to vote for a film by an attending filmmaker—that filmmaker received a cash prize to offset some of the cost of supporting the film.
